The Morris Animal Refuge is America’s first animal shelter. Elizabeth Morris began sheltering animals in her own home in 1855. As a pioneer in animal welfare, she formalized this shelter as the Morris Animal Refuge in 1874 and since that time, Morris has never turned an animal in need away from our Doorstep 🙂 We are an open admission, lifesaving organization with a current save rate of 97%. If you would like to learn more about us or become a Morris Community Member by volunteering, fostering or donating, please visit our website, morrisanimalrefuge.org to find out more about us.
